Nurhop is the solo project of Atlanta-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Berthelsen, a musician who's been chasing sound for as long as he can remember.
It started simpleโplaying piano as a kid, then picking up a guitar and figuring things out by ear. Around the same time YouTube was blowing up, and it became a kind of teacher. Hours turned into years of learning, replaying songs, messing up, figuring things out, and slowly getting better without really realizing it.
He didn't stop at one instrument. Guitar turned into piano, then bass, then whatever else he could get his hands onโmandolin, harmonica, recorder, even an ocarina. It was never really about mastering one thing, it was about understanding music from every angle and getting closer to the feeling behind it.
By high school, music wasn't just something he didโit was kind of everything. He played in bands, spent time performing in church, and ended up leading both the guitar and photography clubs his senior year. Most of it wasn't about being seenโit was just about being in it.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, Nurhop started to take shape. Back in 8th grade, he began making and uploading music to SoundCloudโnothing polished, just ideas. But he stuck with it. Over time, those ideas turned into something more intentional, more refined, and more honest.
As his musical world expanded, so did the way he brought it to people. He got into DJing and live performance, co-founding Energized Entertainment and later helping build what would become Atlanta Music Prosโexperiences that pushed his music beyond the studio and into real environments where energy and connection matter.
What makes Nurhop different is that it doesn't come from just one place. It's electronic, but it's also rooted in years of playing real instruments and learning how music actually feels, not just how it's arranged.
Still early in his journey, he continues to release, experiment, and buildโfocused not just on being heard, but on creating something that lasts.
