So Every Time is out. After living with this one for a while, it's finally on Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, YouTube — every platform you could want. If you've been following the project at all, this is the one I've been waiting to share.
The song is about that feeling that doesn't really go away. The kind of thing you think you've moved past, until something pulls you right back into it — a song on the radio, a street you used to drive down, a name that pops up out of nowhere. Every time. That's the whole idea. It's not a sad song exactly, it's more like a song that sits with you. The kind of late night music you put on when you actually want to feel something instead of zoning out.
Production-wise, I wanted it to breathe. A lot of Atlanta electronic music right now is built to slap immediately — drop, drop, drop — and that's great, but I'm trying to do something different with Nurhop. I came up playing piano, then guitar, then bass, then whatever else I could get my hands on. So when I sit down to make a track, I'm thinking about it more like a song than a beat. Real chords. Space between the parts. Atmosphere first, then the energy.
That's where the term melodic electronic music actually lands for me. It's not a genre tag I'm chasing — it's just what comes out when you grow up playing instruments and then start producing. You can't really un-hear melody once you've spent that many hours with it.
What it means for the project
Every Time isn't a one-off. It's the next step in a body of work I'm building from scratch as an independent EDM artist, working out of Atlanta with no label, no manager, and no one telling me what the next move should be. Just the music, the tools, and figuring it out one release at a time.
That's been the through-line since the beginning, and Every Time is probably the closest I've come to nailing what I actually hear in my head when I imagine what emotional EDM can sound like. Cinematic but personal. Big but quiet underneath.
